CEUs: Phius & AIA HSW
Can Passive House principles be successfully applied to large, complex commercial buildings with high internal loads? This session explores that question through the lens of a groundbreaking project: the first medical office building in the United States pursuing Phius CORE 2021 certification. Located in Massachusetts, this four-story, 110,000-square-foot building challenges the boundaries of typical Passive House applications.

- Compare the thermal behavior of Passive House internal load–dominated buildings versus skin load–dominated buildings in Climate Zone 5A.
- Evaluate effective strategies for meeting Phius CORE 2021 source energy limits.
- Identify five lessons learned and how those lessons inform future internal load-dominated passive buildings
