George Penniman

Treasurer

For the past 30 years, George has been practicing architecture and life in southeastern CT. Following time at Centerbrook Architects, he opened his own firm in 1994.  Having recently closed the firm, George continues to keep busy with ongoing projects and deep involvement with BuildGreenCT and the Connecticut Passive House Community.  His passion is high performance building, and he has been certified as a Passive House Designer/Consultant and LEED AP for Homes professional. His dream is to see high performance standards become so mainstream that we don’t even have to talk about them anymore. In the meantime, he works to educate and spread the word about the tools and techniques to improve the built environment for all.

George received his Masters of Architecture from the University of Virginia in 1986. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, USGBC, Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), Passivehaus Maine, and People’s Action for Clean Energy (PACE). He is a founding member of Connecticut Passive House and has a long history of board membership with local institutions.
