It is with mixed emotions we share the news that Alicia Dolce will be stepping back from her role as Executive Director.
Over the past seven years, her leadership, dedication, and commitment have been instrumental in shaping BuildGreenCT into the organization it is today. The Board could not have accomplished this work without her tireless and unwavering support.
On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Alicia for her immeasurable contributions to this organization and our community, and for the enthusiasm, tenacity, drive, and indomitable spirit she brought to this work every day.
Please read her letter to our community below, and know with certainty that this is NOT goodbye from Alicia. It’s a leadership change. She will continue to support us in an advisory role.

Dear BuildGreenCT Community,
Over the past six months, the Board of Directors and I have been working together to prepare the organization for its next generation of leadership. This transition process has included evaluating the organization’s future operational needs, strengthening internal systems, expanding staff capacity, and laying the groundwork to support BuildGreenCT’s continued growth and long-term sustainability goals.
In mid-June, I will be transitioning out of my role as Executive Director to a support position.
Serving as Executive Director over the past seven years has been one of the great privileges of my professional life. Together, with the tremendous support and dedication of our Board members, advisors, members, sponsors, volunteers, partners, and staff, we have helped build a vibrant statewide community committed to accelerating the just and sustainable transformation of the built environment through education, advocacy, and community-building.
I am incredibly proud of what we have built together, and even more excited about what lies ahead for BuildGreenCT.
As BuildGreenCT has evolved and grown, so too have the operational needs required to support its mission and expanding statewide presence. To support this next phase, BuildGreenCT has added two new staff positions to expand our program offerings and strengthen member engagement, communications, and organizational capacity.
The Board will be formally launching a search for BuildGreenCT’s next Executive Director as part of a strategically planned leadership transition. We have structured this transition to ensure stability and long-term organizational success. Following my transition from the Executive Director role, I will support onboarding and training for new staff and the next Executive Director, while shifting my efforts toward development activities and stewardship of the organization’s information systems.
One of BuildGreenCT’s greatest strengths is its deeply collaborative and mission-driven culture. Thanks to an extraordinarily dedicated and engaged Board of Directors, Advisors, and volunteers, the organization has never been stronger and continues to benefit from a broad network of people committed to advancing its mission.
In the weeks ahead, BuildGreenCT Board Chair, Sara Holmes, will be sharing additional updates and plans to mark this next chapter.
BuildGreenCT is well-positioned for the future, and I look forward to supporting its continued growth and impact.
