Undergraduate Courses:

ADT 110 – Introduction to Architectural Graphics
4 credits High Impact Practice: First Year Seminar
This course focuses on integrating lectures and studio classes to develop students’ understanding of the methods, media, and materials used in the communication of design. Students practice graphic and verbal presentation techniques. Construction techniques in relation to construction documents: plans, elevations, sections, details, and specifications are presented. Two lecture hours, six lab hours.
MW/8:30a – 11:50a

ADT 112 – Introduction to the Built Environment
1 credit(s)
The course introduces students to the multi-faceted built environment. Topics include: the roles of the architect, engineer, contractor; the design-construction process; the variety of fields related to the built environment; the integrated nature of design/engineering/construction; and the global context of architecture. In addition students will understand and develop working approaches to the procedures and processes of higher learning and professionalism. One lecture hour.
Three Sections Available (one adjunct could teach all three):
F/9:30a – 10:20a
F/10:30a – 11:20a
F/11:30a – 12:20p

ADT 123 – Architectural Design I
4 credits
An introductory course with an emphasis on the architectural responses to people’s basic needs for shelter. At the fundamental level, these needs, physical, psychological, sensual, intellectual, cultural, and aesthetic are met through physical design. Emphasis is placed on problem solving through studio activity and relating architectural theory and criticism to the studio. Two lecture hours, six lab hours.
Two Sections Available:
MW/8:30a – 11:50a
TR/8:30a – 11:50a

ADT 242 – Construction Documents
4 credits
Emphasizing the use of graphics as a problem solving tool, with particular focus on computer documentation, students develop an outline set of construction documents for a steel and concrete project. Students will prepare documents for one major project through the intermediate development of sketch exercises. Supplementary lectures on building codes, legislation, construction techniques, detailing, and the integration of other disciplines are given. Site visits to local construction projects and professional offices provide a connection between lecture/lab and real-world applications. Two lecture hours, six lab hours.
TR/8:30a – 12:20p

ADT 244 – Architectural Design III
4 credits
An architectural studio course that will focus on the preliminary design, schematic design, and design development of an institutional building. Emphasis will be placed on developing the student’s ability to research, analyze, and evaluate information as the design evolves. Students will prepare a major institutional project for review by visiting professionals and faculty. A grade of C or better is required to advance to the next studio course in the design sequence. Two lecture hours, six lab hours.
MWR/5:00p – 7:40p

ADT 366 – Sustainable Design
4 credits
This course presents sustainable design and construction goals, processes, and strategies with a focus on larger commercial and institutional buildings. Two lecture hours and four studio hours.

Graduate Courses:

ARC 523 – Advanced Structural Systems
3 credits
The development of an advanced working knowledge of building systems primarily comprising composites, including reinforced, high-strength, and precast concrete; reinforced masonry; and emerging composites. Arches, shells, and plates are analyzed. Advanced computer applications assist the student in developing an understanding of the relationships between concept, material, form, and structural implication. Case studies, field trips, and system design project work are required.
T/6:00p – 8:50p
