This 90-minute virtual training provides an essential introduction to prefabricated and modular construction methods, with a focus on their application in high-performance and Passive House building projects. Designed for professionals involved in the design and construction of both new and existing buildings, this session will explore how prefabricated components can be strategically integrated to optimize building performance, streamline project delivery, and meet rigorous energy standards.
This course is ideal for professionals looking to build foundational knowledge of prefabrication and understand its role in delivering efficient, high-performance building solutions.
Participants will learn:
- The various types of prefabrication, including modular, panelized, CLT, hybrid systems, and individual components;
- Differentiating between on-site and prefabricated scopes of work;
- The influence of prefab components on construction sequencing;
- Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) and its role in design and workflow integration;
- The process from factory fabrication to site installation;
- The importance of third-party quality assurance and Passive House rater inspections.
