Spotlight Tours

Showcase your green building project to our community of practitioners, sustainable building professionals, and climate advocates.

For years, we’ve opened doors—literally—by organizing tours of Connecticut’s most innovative and interesting green building projects, for attendees to learn and be inspired by real-world examples.

Attendees include building professionals, practitioners, consultants, developers, government/ nonprofit leaders, climate advocates, and green building enthusiasts.

These tours have become one of our most popular events so now we’re taking them to the next level by launching our Spotlight Tour series and inviting Members and Annual Sponsors to nominate their own projects for consideration.

  • Fill out our Spotlight Tour Proposal so we can see if your project aligns with our program goals and available dates.
  • The proposal should only be completed when you have verified that a tour can take place at the site: site-access clearance, insurance requirements, etc.

•  We welcome proposals for both completed projects and open-walls (under construction) tours.

Let's Break it Down

We know you’re busy. Let us take care of the details.

Your Role:
As the host, you will serve as the primary point person confirming site access, working with BuildGreenCT to curate the event, providing expertise and content. Additionally, the host will be asked to identify project team members and/or tour guides who can participate in the program, either during the presentation/Q & A or to lead small group tours.

BuildGreenCT’s Role:
We will provide administrative and logistical support. We will take care of promotion, registration, and AIA CEUs submission & fulfillment. To help cover event expenses, we will charge a registration fee to attendees and reach out to project partners associated with this project for sponsorship.

Deadlines to Keep in Mind

After submitting your form, BuildGreenCT will evaluate your proposal. If your proposal is accepted, we’ll ask for a few more details to secure your spot on our educational events calendar.

Spotlight Tour Programs are generally 1.5-2 hours long, including an overview of the project (verbal remarks and/or presentation) and a guided tour, with a Q & A portion. BuildGreenCT presents a brief introduction at the beginning of each program. The presenters’ slide deck is distributed to attendees after the program.

If your project is selected, here is the approximate timeline for program delivery:

  • Rolling Applications – proposal submittal
  • 8-12 Weeks from Tour Date: proposal acceptance, date confirmation, program delivery info, marketing communications prep/assets collection, CEUs submittal, sponsor outreach

  • 5-6 Weeks from Tour Date: launch marketing promotion and registration
  • 1-2 Weeks from Tour Date: final check & presentation “run through”
  • Week of Tour: program delivery
  • Post-Program Wrap & Bounce: social media/event highlight blog (if applicable), etc.
